For a slight twist and something like a delicious bacon chocolate dessert, I topped mine with a slice of crispy bacon.
Leave out the meat and you have a Vegan cacao drink recipe!
What makes this a healthy homemade hot chocolate recipe?
Along with being the most easy hot chocolate you can find, it’s probably also the healthy since it uses sugar free maple syrup as well as raw cacao powder; No hot chocolate mix and no added sugar in here either.
This also makes the perfect Vegan hot chocolate with maple syrup since it’s dairy free with Almond Milk instead of regular.
Raw Cacao Hot Chocolate Benefits
I prefer to use raw cacao for my hot chocolate because it is a super food that has a ton of nutrition benefits, and it especially high in antioxidants and fiber.
Another benefit is that it is rich in minerals like magnesium, zinc, iron and potassium.
How to make Hot Chocolate with Cocoa Powder Microwave:
This creamy hot chocolate recipe is perfect for the microwave too; All you need to do is warm the milk in a mug for about 30 seconds, then whisk in the cacao/cocoa powder and maple syrup, and heat it up again for another 1 minute.
Make sure you warm the milk before adding in the cacao or cocoa powder to it or it won’t combine with the milk. This will then make it start to burn on the top because of the heat from the microwave.
Now for the Perfect Bacon Hot Chocolate
You can either cook the bacon for this got cocoa recipe in the oven or on the stovetop.
For the oven approach, place the bacon on a baking sheet lined with foil and bake at 400°F for 10 minutes until crispy. This takes a but longer since you have to wait for the oven to preheat.
To make the best instant hot chocolate with bacon, fry the bacon on a skillet over medium heat, for about 8 to 10 minutes till it’s crispy. Be sure to put the bacon on the cold skillet.
Drain out all the fat, and move the cooked bacon to a plate lined with paper towels.
I would recommend brushing the warm bacon with some maple syrup for a proper candied bacon hot chocolate!
How do you make a Hot Chocolate on the stove top?
This really is an easy hot chocolate recipe because all you need to do is heat and combine the combine all the ingredients.
Whisk together and heat the milk, cacao powder and maple syrup in a small pot over medium heat.
Let it start to steam and simmer, and then pour it into your mug and indulge!
Can I boil milk for hot chocolate?
No, make sure you don’t boil the milk in this almond milk hot chocolate or it will burn and stick to the bottom of the pot. You want it to simmer with small bubbles on top.
