This Hot & Crispy Cajun Tilapia is seasoned with a spicy spice blend and then fried to perfection. Its got a crispy finish and just the right amount of heat to leave you wanting more!
Jump to RecipeWithout a doubt, this is my most favorite recipe for cooking fish. I’m a total sucker for spicy food, especially when it comes to dinner, and that combination of spices in that particular ratio just hits the spot.
I experimented a few of variations, but none of them worked:
- Same quantity of seasoning on a larger fillet
- Same quantity of seasoning, same size fillet, less oil
- Same quantity of seasoning, same size fillet, same quantity of oil, different type of fish
If you want to risk it, go ahead, but I’d really recommend sticking to this version.
Its also super simple, there’s no marination time involved, and it tastes absolutely delicious.
Also, fried fish. If you’re still not convinced, we need to talk.
Hot & Crispy Cajun Tilapia
Ingredients
- 4 oz Tilapia Fish Fillet
- 2 tsp Olive Oil
- ¼ tsp Paprika
- ¼ tsp Italian Seasoning
- ¼ tsp Cayenne Pepper, or less if you don’t want it too spicy
- ¼ tsp Garlic Powder
- ⅛ tsp Onion Powder
- ⅛ tsp Pepper
- ¼ tsp Salt
Instructions
- Combine olive oil and seasonings in a small bowl and rub half mixture on one side of fillet.
- Heat a skillet over medium-high and add the tilapia, seasoned side down.
- Let the fish sear on one side for 6-7 mins, and apply rest of paste on the other side.
- Flip and let it cook for another 3-4 mins.
- Serve hot and hot!
Notes
- If you have a different sized fillet, adjust the spices accordingly. I found these quantities to be just right.
- Try 1 tsp Cajun Seasoning + ⅛ tsp each Cayenne Pepper & Paprika if you don’t have all the other spices listed above.
