A suuuuuper creamy Pumpkin Spice Smoothie made with frozen bananas, pumpkin puree and pumpkin pie spice for your Thanksgiving breakfast.
Perfectly spiced like your favorite fall dessert, it’s a quick and healthy way to get your pumpkin pie fix without all the calories.
Jump to RecipeAfter that successful experiment with the Pumpkin Pecan Oat Bars the other day, I was all set to try out as many pumpkin recipes as possible. Yes I did, and still do, need to finish that giant can of pumpkin puree I bought, but that was not the motivation behind this at all!
The ingredients
This Pumpkin Spice Smoothie was born out of my new-found love for pumpkin and a zipper bag of frozen bananas that had been lying in my freezer for a month.
Be sure to use pure pumpkin puree though, and not pumpkin pie filling. They’re very different. The latter is what you put into a pumpkin pie and has a ton of sugar.
Add some almond milk to thin it out and keep it Vegan, Paleo and Dairy Free; and vanilla extract for a some extra flavor.
P.S. Coconut milk works too, so long as theres no real milk (feel free if you don’t have restrictions).
Since the pumpkin and banana both have their natural sweetness, I only added a tiny bit of sweetener (stevia) to the mix. Feel free to go for more though you’re looking for a major sugar rush with no sugar. No judgments here at all, I have my days too.
Use the natural sweetener to keep it healthy.
And finally turn this into a delightful thanksgiving-perfect beverage, pumpkin pie spice.
Make it!
To make this thick creamy pumpkin banana milkshake, all you need to do it blend everything together in a food processor or blender.
You can add some more – or less! – milk based on how thick you want yours to be, but I prefer mine to be closer to a soft-serve consistency so I can eat it with a spoon. Would totally recommend.
If you put only a little milk, you can even convert this into a pumpkin spice banana ice cream. Even better?!
