A hearty and healthy Chocolate Oat Protein Shake to get your post-workout protein+carb boost without any fat. Thick, creamy and obsessively good; It tastes like an oatmeal cookie!
Jump to RecipeOats in a milkshake? Yeah I was skeptical too, but trust me this is good!
After making that Peanut Butter Banana Protein Shake a short while ago, I really got into the whole protein shake thing. But I wanted to go for something that would be a good post-workout shake, i.e. low or no fats (whether or not they’re healthy fats).
What you need:
- Chocolate Protein Powder: This is the core ingredient to this shake. You want a quality protein powder though. I’ve tried a couple, and my favorite is Orgain‘s Plant Based Creamy Chocolate Fudge
Use the code HAYLSKITCHEN to get a 30% off. - Rolled Oats: Adds a nice thickness to the shake, along with good carbs and fiber too. Kinda also makes it taste like an oatmeal cookie milkshake.
Use gluten-free rolled oats to keep it GF and Paleo-friendly. - Vanilla Extract and Cinnamon: Well cookies need vanilla and cinnamon right? There’s only a tiny bit in there, but they make a world of a difference.
- Unsweetened Almond Milk: The base, and also keeps this dairy free! Use unsweetened because the sweetness of the protein powder should be enough for the recipe. If you powder isn’t as sweet, add some sweetener (stevia/monk fruit to keep it natural and sugar free).
- Ice Cubes: This is what makes the plain old drink a thick milkshake! Add as much or little as you like.
What to do:
Just blend everything in a food processor or blender.
This drink felt kind of like a smoothie at times, an was just obsessively good! I had it day after day until I realized I needed to try some more recipes too just to keep this page up!
If you’re still worried about the oats, they get completely crumbled in the blender, and give the shake a good creamy feel. Good for your mouth and muscles too.
And its like a chocolate oatmeal cookie milkshake!
P. S. Use a diet-compliant protein powder, and this chocolate oat shake will be Vegan and Paleo too.
