Tender Sweet Potato Bites served with a creamy Maple-Tahini Yogurt dip. This easy homemade appetizer takes 10 minutes and is perfect for your next get-together or solo night-in!
Jump to RecipeI am currently obsessed, no, OBSESSED, with sweet potatoes. I’ve been having sweet potato buddha bowls for lunch for lets say over a week now!
To tell you the truth though, I realized its the combination of the veg with whatever sauce I add that makes the dish so good.
So of course I had to go try out something that was just the sweet potato with just the dipping sauce – and from there came these chips!
How to cook these sweet potato chips on the stove top?
- Slice the sweet potato into thin coins of about ¼” thick, leaving the skin on – you won’t really taste the skin once its cooked and paired with the dip.
- Make the fried version of these sweet potato chips by cooking them in a little olive oil or coconut oil on the stove, or even no oil but a spray; Just make sure your pan is non-stick
- Cook them on one side for 3-4 minutes, flip them over and cook the other side for another 3-4 minutes.
- Thats it!
Can I make sweet potato chips in the oven or air fryer?
Yes! Customize the cooking option as you see fit. You can bake these in the oven or cook them in an air fryer at 400°F for about 20 minutes depending on how crispy you want them.
Sweet potato chips with dip?
Well a dip or dipping sauce does make chips better, so stir together some tahini, maple syrup and yogurt to make a creamy sauce or dressing even that just pairs perfectly with the flavor of the tender sweet potato bites.
I think its the wonder of that tahini and maple syrup combo!
P. S. Would recommend a stevia-sweetened syrup like the one from Lakanto to make this a little healthier.
Do these keep?
Yes, just for a bit though. Store these delicious sweet potato bites in the fridge for 2-3 days sealed in an airtight container. The sauce would keep as well, but tastes best fresh!
Can I freeze these sweet potato coins?
No, I would not recommend freezing these. These crispy and tender sweet potato bites taste best when cooked and would get soggy when frozen.
What about dietary restrictions?
Since the chips themselves are made with just the sweet potato and olive oil, they’re gluten free and dairy free.
If you want to go a step further and make these homemade sweet potato chips Whole30, Paleo and Vegan too, make sure you use coconut or almond based yogurt (or yoghurt depending on where you’re located) in the maple-tahini sauce.
Use stevia-sweetened maple syrup to get a sugar-free tahini dip as well, and use an unsweetened yogurt.
