Its called an “everything” bagel because it has (almost) everything you can find on bagels, on the one bagel. I.e. Sesame bagel, Onion bagel, Poppyseed bagel all in one!
Cinnamon and raisins would just get too weird there, so its an everything savory bagel I guess.
Everything but the Bagel Sesame Seasoning Blend
Trader Joe’s really did us good with their beautiful concoction where they combined the toppings you’d find on an Everything Bagel.
So this seasoning has it all: The poppy, the sesame, the onion, the garlic, the salt.
The flavor? Its got a rich umami flavor that comes from the sesame.
The smell? All I get is a mild but glorious onion-garlic.
The taste? Everything you ever want!
No Trade Joe’s in your neighborhood? In a different part of the world? Fear not!
This spice blend is super easy to make.
How to make Everything Bagel Seasoning at home:
Grab a tablespoon and teaspoon measure and throw all of these together in a bowl:
- 2 Tbsp Sesame Seeds
- 2 Tbsp Poppy Seeds
- 4 tsp Dehydrated Onion Flakes
- 4 tsp Dehydrated Garlic Flakes
- ½ tsp Fine Sea Salt (1 tsp Kosher Salt)
Yes, that’s really it!
How to store:
Put it in any old spice jar or airtight container and keep it in your pantry. It’ll last for months!
