Here’s a recipe for a charred, grilled octopus drizzled with olive oil to take it to perfection! Tender and soft white meat that really absorbs all those delicious flavors. Looks like tomorrow’s dinner is planned too.
Jump to RecipeI’ve only had Grilled Octopus once before – on the last night (unfortunately) of a trip to Lisbon – and I couldn’t stop myself from eating out of a someone else’s plate too! Who knew it was this easy to make at home?!
The only hard part associated with this recipe – and kinda disgusting too to be honest – is the cleaning the octopus. I cannot deal with all that sliminess so no was was I going it do any of that myself. Tried to handle that raw creature as little as I could, so I got it pre-cleaned. You might want to consider doing that too.
Easy Tender Grilled Octopus

- Pinch of Salt & Pepper
- 2 tsp Parsley, Chopped
Instructions
- Place octopus in a large pot over medium heat and cover with water.
- Bring to a boil, then reduce heat to a low simmer, cover and cook for 25 minutes or until octopus is tender but still firm (tip of a sharp knife should slide in easily).
- Drain and set aside to cool until ready to handle, about 15 minutes.
- Preheat grill to medium high, about 450°F.
- Transfer octopus to a bowl, add 1 tsp olive oil, lemon juice, garlic and seasonings and toss to combine.
- Grill each side for about 2-3 minutes until charred.
- Slice into ½ – ¾” thick rounds and arrange on a platter.
- Drizzle ½ tsp olive oil, garnish with parsley and serve!
