This Maple Glazed Tofu is crispy on the outside, soft on the inside, and tossed in a sweet maple-soy sauce. Celebrate #NationalMapleSyrupDay the Vegan way!
Jump to RecipeI’m sure you must have all heard of Honey Glazed Tofu or Honey Garlic Tofu or Honey this Tofu or Honey that Tofu. But its National Maple Syrup Day, so Maple Glazed Tofu bites it is – and crispy too!
A Great Thanksgiving Dinner!
For all the Vegans struggling to have an authentic dinner for the holiday, this is a great replacement for that chunk of glazed ham that’s always on the table.
Omnivores out there, does this sound appealing? It’s a lot quicker than cooking meat too, if that helps push you over the edge.
Prep the Tofu
Give yourself a little time to press out the water from the tofu, then sear it and toss it in this sweet sweet maple-soy sauce. With the right-sized cubes, the tofu will be soft on the inside with a nice crispy skin on the outside.
Healthy Sweet Tofu
To make this Tofu recipe healthy, I used Stevia-sweetened Maple Syrup (I recommend the one from Sweetleaf Stevia) since it drops the calories, and keeps it sugar-free too while still being sweet.
Do that and you won’t feel an ounce of guilt the next morning from having reached out for that fourth serving.
Baked Crispy Maple Glazed Tofu
Now I seared mine over the pan so it would be quicker, but you can also bake the Tofu if you’ve got some time on hand.
400°F for 25 minutes, flipping halfway. After that, transfer the crispy baked tofu use a nonstick pan, add the sauce and let it thicken to get it glazed with that thick maple soy goodness.
Using the oven baked approach after pressing gives the Tofu that same crispy coating, but with no oil – and no cornstarch either. I would still recommend tossing it in like ¼ tsp worth of oil first though. Doesn’t really bump the calories much, but takes things to a whole other level!
