Happy #NationalBurgerDay! Celebrate with these Sweet Potato Chicken Patties and Spicy Yogurt Sauce between some nice buns!
Mashed sweet potato, shredded chicken and finely chopped veggies come together to form these super power Sweet Potato Chicken Patties. Paired with a Spicy Greek Yogurt Sauce, they make for an easy sweet-n-spicy appetizer, or a mean burger filling.
Jump to RecipeEvery time I buy a sweet potato, I end up only eating a little bit in one meal, and let the rest of it just sit in the fridge for a few days until I decide to blanch and freeze it.
But not this time. This time I decided to turn things around. Use most of it in a meal, and only let a little bit go for later.
How to make?
- Mash the sweet potatoes
- Combine them with shredded chicken, broccoli rice and a handful of veggies
- Season it with an exorbitant amount of spices
- Shape the mix into little cakes
- Bake in the over or cook in an air fryer
These beauties have everything you want from a patty: low fat, high protein, higher nutrition, even higher flavor!
How to serve?
Because just “spiced” wasn’t enough for this heat-lover here, I whipped up a spicy yogurt sauce to go with.
Just greek yogurt, paprika and crushed red peppers. A sauce couldn’t get easier!
You might want to tone down the crushed red pepper though if your spice tolerance is on the milder end.
Paleo? Use a coconut or almond-based yogurt instead.
Burgers?
Oh yes! Just place these patties between some quality whole wheat burger buns or English muffins.
Protein-packed, veggie-loaded, healthy carbs. Clearly a complete meal.
There’s quite a fair bit of shredded chicken and riced broccoli in there, so maybe these would pass off as chicken burgers or chicken and broccoli burgers or even sweet potato chicken and broccoli burgers?
Either way, its a stellar combination of sweet and spicy that’s just so hard to beat!
