Apparently it’s another new trend with oats – think overnight oats with melted chocolate on top so you get that chocolate shell to break into.
So of course I had to hop on this one as well, add protein coz its my identity and put a dessert spin on it!

Ingredients for Strawberry Protein Overnight Oats
This high protein strwaberry overnight oatmeal uses simple like quick oats and yogurt and is sweetened with protein powder for a healthy breakfast option.
- Instant or Quick Oats, see below for options
- Strawberry or Vanilla Protein Powder as the sweetener, and also makes it a protein strawberry oatmeal recipe.I recommend ProteinWorld Strawberry Milkshake flavor for this recipe to keep it sugar free.; Use the code HAYLSKITCHEN for a discount.
Another option would be Quest Vanilla. - Water or Unsweetened Almond Milk: To keep the baked oatmeal dairy free and sugar free. Regular milk works too.
- Non Fat Greek Yogurt for a creamy texture and extra high protein recipe. I used a non fat, but 2% – or coconut yogurt for vegan – would be good to
- Sliced Strawberries!
For the Chocolate Shell Oatmeal:
- Sugar free Chocolate Bar or Chocolate Chips to make this a chocolate covered strawberry oatmeal with no added sugar. I’d recommend Lakanto’s Chocolate (HAYLSKITCHEN for a discount here too) or Lily’s Bar or Chocolate Chips.
- Optionally some Coconut Oil (I didn’t use this)
To make Chocolate Strawberry Overnight Protein Oats
This chocolate strawberry overnight oats really is an easy recipe and made even quicker with the use of a microwave for an easy meal prep.
Combine the oats, water and protein powder in a bowl and optionally microwave for 45 seconds to a minute.
Stir in the yogurt and strawberries.
Cover and place in the fridge to chill for about 2 hours.
Now for the Chocolate Magic Shell Oatmeal
Melt Chocolate and coconut oil in the microwave on high for about 30-45 seconds, stirring every now and then.
Pour and spread chocolate on oats, cover and refrigerate again to chill.
Options for Healthy Strawberry Protein Powder Overnight Oats
Frozen strawberries!
Make protein overnight oats with frozen strawberries instead of fresh ones; Just stir them in the same way along with the rest of the ingredients.
Vegan
This chocolate strawberry overnight oats uses water and greek yogurt for the base, so to make it Vegan and dairy free, use a coconut yogurt, plant based protein powder and dairy free chocolate as well.
Dark Chocolate!
Instead of semi sweet or milk chocolate, go for something with higher cocoa content for the coating and you have a high protein dark chocolate strawberry overnight oats.
Gluten Free
If you have dietary restrictions, use gluten free oatmeal for this strawberry protein overnight oat recipe.
No Yogurt
To make chocolate strawberry overnight oats with no yogurt, use some mashed banana or unsweetened applesauce. You might need to adjust the amount of protein powder in this case so it doesn’t get too sweet.
For a regular Chocolate Strawberry Overnight Oats

Yes! This strawberry protein powder overnight oatmeal recipe will keep in the fridge for up to 5 days in an airtight container.
Another option is to bulk prep it in a large container and then portion out into individual servings every day.

Chocolate Covered Strawberry Protein Overnight Oats (Sugar Free!)
Ingredients
- ½ cup Instant or Quick Oats, 45g
- ⅔ cup Water or Almond Milk
- ½ scoop Strawberry Protein Powder, 15g, see post for subs
- 3 Tbsp Non-fat Greek Yogurt, 42g
- ¼ cup Sliced Fresh Strawberries, 36g
Chocolate Coating:
- 1½ Tbsp Chopped Chocolate or Chocolate Chips, 21g, Sugar-free recommended
- ⅛ tsp Coconut Oil, Optional
Instructions
- Combine oats, water/milk and protein powder in a microwave safe bowl and microwave about 45-60 seconds. (Optional)
- Stir in yogurt and strawberries.
- Cover and refrigerate overnight, or at least 2 hours (4 hours if did not microwave).
- Place the chocolate chips (or chocolate) and optional coconut oil in a large microwave safe bowl and microwave at 30 second intervals, stirring – for about 1 minutes until it’s completely melted.
- Pour over oats and spread with back of spoon. Top with chopped nuts if desired.
- Refrigerate another 1-2 hours and enjoy.
