Jump to RecipeI was very skeptical about this combo, but mad was it good?! Chocolate and orange really go so well and is way too underrated.
These donuts also came out so perfect in flavor too with the orange juice and orange zest in combination with the chocolate – really worth a try!
And of course healthy too 🙂

And for the Chocolate Topping on these Baked Chocolate Orange Donuts
- Chocolate Chips – I use sugar free ones from Lakanto here (HAYLSKITCHEN for a disocount here too). Lily’s is another sugar-free option!
- Coconut Oil
Some Tips For Baked Chocolate Orange Doughnuts with Protein Powder:
- Make sure your mixture has enough moisture in it. Protein powder is quite absorbent and if the wet ingredients are too little, the donuts will be dry! The mix should be like a slightly runny brownie batter.
- Taste the batter and see if you need some extra sweetener. I’d recommend using stevia powder to maintain the consistency of the batter and have low sugar chocolate orange donut.
- Use room temperature egg whites and yogurt so they mix well with the dry ingredients.
- Be sure to grease the donut pan.
- Let the donuts cool completely before spreading the melted chocolate on them,
How to store Homemade Baked Chocolate Orange Doughnuts?
These homemade baked chocolate orange doughnuts keep really well in the fridge, freezer, or even at room temperature.
Store chocolate orange doughnuts at room temperature, for 1-2 days in an airtight container, or 5 days in the fridge.
Another option is to place the chocolate orange donuts in freezer-safe zipper bags and freeze for up to 2 months.
