Jump to RecipeGuys these chocolate biscuits were just game changing! So rich and perfect.
I’m very much out of words about this recipe here. Very last minute – was planning a protein bread variation – but the biscuits were a very good call.
Ingredients For Chocolate Protein Biscuits Recipe
These double chocolate protein biscuits use a few simple and healthy ingredients.
Here’s what you need for these high protein chocolate biscuits:
- Gluten Free (All Purpose) Baking Flour – or a regular all purpose flour
- Chocolate Protein Powder needed for high protein donut holes and also replaces the ‘sugar’. I used half Chocolate Milkshake protein powder from Quest Nutrition (it’s a whey-caesin blend and bakes really well) and half ProteinWorld Whey to keep it sugar free(Use the code HAYLSKITCHEN for a discount).
- Unflavored Protein Powder to replace some of the flour (and carbs) in the recipe for a slightly low calorie protein biscuit. Quest Nutrition whey-caesin again here.
- Unsweetened Cocoa Powder
- 1:1 Zero Calorie Sugar Substitute – I use Lakanto, to keep this recipe sugar free; (code HAYLSKITCHEN for a discount here).
- Non-Fat Greek Yogurt for extra protein
- Baking Powder
And for the Chocolate Drizzle on Protein Packed Biscuits
- Sugar free Chocolate Bar or Chocolate Chips: I use the chips from Lakanto here (HAYLSKITCHEN for a discount here too). Another option is Lily’s Bar or Chocolate Chips.
- Coconut Oil so the chocolate is easier to melt and more smooth when you drizzle.
Tips for Chocolate Protein Powder Breakfast Biscuits
This really is an easy one, but here’s some pointers for the perfect chocolate protein powder biscuits recipe for breakfast:
- Use cold yogurt so that the dough does not get too sticky and hard to roll.
- Don’t over-mix the dough or it will get too warm and soft. Also, the protein powder can make the healthy chocolate biscuits tough.
- Don’t let dough sit out for too long; Work quickly; You don’t want the dough to get warm and hard to roll.
- Lightly gease palms with oil to roll the dough into balls so it doesn’t stick to your palms.
How to store Quest Protein Powder Biscuits
These homemade quest protein powder biscuits keep really well at room temperature, in the fridge or freezer.
Chocolate bread biscuits keep on the countertop in an airtight container for 2 days.
Store the high protein breakfast biscuits recipe for up to 5 days in the fridge in an airtight container.
For a freezer friendly option, freeze the healthy chocolate biscuit on a baking sheet and then transfer to freezer safe zipper bag. It should keep up to 2 months.
When it’s time to eat, thaw to room temperature and warm them in the microwave for extra goodness.
Alternatives for Healthy Chocolate Biscuits Recipe
I make these healthy chocolate biscuits with the ingredients and brands above, but here’s some alternatives you can try. I haven’t given them all a go yet, so let me know if you do!
- 1:1 Gluten Free Baking Flour: All purpose flour or Whole Wheat Pastry Flour in the same amount by weight not cups
- Chocolate Protein Powder: Use Vanilla (it won’t be as rich in flavor though)
- Unflavored Protein Powder: More Plain flour, but reduce the amount of yogurt to 1 cup + 2 Tbsp
- 1:1 Zero Calorie Sugar Replacement: Regular confectioners sugar (this won’t be sugar free though, and also higher in calories)
- Greek Yogurt: Coconut yogurt
For a Vegan Option
The original recipe here has no eggs and no milk, so these high protein biscuits can be easily turned Vegan.
Replace the Greek Yogurt with Coconut Yogurt, and use a plant based protein powder to make Vegan chocolate biscuits. ProteinWorld has a Vegan protein blend that can work well here (HAYLSKITCHEN for a discount).
I haven’t tried this option yet, so let me know how it goes if you do!

These were delightful! I just have 3 left! Next time I’ll add a few walnuts for an extra pop of flavor.
Haha, looks like you found these chocolate protein biscuits just as addictive as I did! Those walnuts do sound like a great add in!
Chocolate biscuits are definitely the new breakfast for me. Move aside biscuits and gravy, chocolate biscuits and milk are the way to go!
Oh hell yes! Milk and chocolate over the savory stuff for me as well. Enjoy!
