Ingredients for Golden Oreo Protein Truffles
These healthy Golden Oreo protein truffles are made with simple ingredients like sugar free sandwich cookies, oat flour, protein powder and coconut flour, and are great for a healthy snack. Here’s all that goes in:
- Vanilla Sandwich Cookies to make a pretty Golden Oreo protein balls recipe
For a low carb and sugar free recipe, I used Catalina Crunch sandwich cookies. - Vanilla Protein Powder for a high protein snack, and also replace the sweetener.
I recommend ProteinWorld Whey or Protein World Slender Blend for this recipe to keep it sugar free; Use the code HAYLSKITCHEN for a discount.
Another option would be Quest. - Unflavored Protein Powder to replace some of the flour (and carbs) in the recipe for a slightly lower carb high protein recipe. I recommend the Multi-purpose mix protein powder from Quest Nutrition.
- Oat Flour (you can make your own with rolled oats in a high speed blender)
- Coconut Flour
- More Unsweetened Almond Milk
For the golden Oreo dessert center
- Vanilla Sandwich Cookies Filling
- Vanilla Protein Powder
I recommend Quest here since it’s a whey-caesin and mixes well with the yogurt and cream. - Non fat Greek Yogurt
For the chocolate coating:
- White Chocolate Chips or Chopped Chocolate. I would recommend Lily’s to keep it sugar free.
- Coconut Oil so the chocolate is easier to melt and more smooth when you drizzle.
Tips for Golden Oreo Protein Balls
This these Golden oreo protein balls are a no bake recipe, and really is quite easy. Here’s some pointers to get it right.
- Use a whey protein powder for the dough; If you use whey-caesin, you might want to adjust the amount of milk to make it more.
- Mix the dough well to form a smooth mixture, but don’t over-mix since the protein powder might make the texture tough.
- Add more milk/coconut flour to mix if too dry/wet; Mixture should be handleable and rollable.
- Taste the mix and see if you need some extra sweetener. I’d recommend using stevia powder to maintain the consistency of the dough and have sugar free no bake golden oreo truffles.
- Use whey-caesin protein powder for the filling center since it works well with the ratio of ingredients here and blends well with the yogurt.
- Melt chocolate in increments in the microwave; Be careful about this or it may burn. If you want to be safe, use the double boiler approach.
Let the melted chocolate cool a bit before coating the protein bites.
To store No Bake Golden Oreo Balls
These no bake Golden oreo balls are best stored in the fridge since they do have a bit of milk in there.
To store Golden Oreo protein bites in the fridge, keep in an airtight container for up to 1 week.
To freeze Golden Oreo protein snacks, place cooled balls in an airtight sealed container or freezer safe zipper bag for 2-3 months. Let them thaw on the counter before eating!
Alternate ingredients for Healthy Golden Oreo Truffles with Protein Powder
I made sugar free, gluten free and healthy Golden Oreo truffles with ingredients above, but here’s some other clean ingredients you can try.
- Sugar Free Sandwich Cookies: Regular Golden Oreo
- Oat flour: Almond flour
- Unflavored protein powder: Unflavored Collagen, or even Almond flour or Oat flour (start with less milk here)
- Coconut Flour: Try 3x the amount of almond flour (I haven’t given this a try yet, but it should work)
- Almond Milk: Regular milk or other non dairy milk
- Greek Yogurt: Coconut Yogurt
To make Vegan Golden Oreo Bites
Use a plant based protein powder, coconut yogurt and dairy free chocolate chips to make Vegan golden oreo protein bites.
ProteinWorld has a Vegan protein blend as well (HAYLSKITCHEN for the discount here too) which would be great for these chocolate covered energy bites.
