Amazing Healthy Fried Oreos recipe made with protein powder and sugar free Oreos in the air fryer! Protein fried Oreos are easy, tasty and perfect for a snack or post-workout treat.
Jump to RecipeI came across the whole fried Oreos thing a long time ago but never really tried to make them because they seemed too complicated. Turned out – like most of the recipes I try – that they were kinda easy to make.
The only issue I faced was that the protein dough was a little wet to work with and kept sticking to my hands. Just floured my hands a little and that fixed it.
A real winner of a recipe here.
Ingredients For Healthy Fried Oroes Recipe
This healthy fried Oreos recipe is made with protein powder in the dough, uses sugar free Oreos, and is made in the air fryer! A real healthy recipe!
Here’s what you need:
- Sugar-Free Oreos or Chocolate Sandwich Cookies – I recommend Catalina Crunch or Sundays here!
- Whole Wheat Pastry Flour
- Vanilla Protein Powder – This is the replacement for sugar. I use the whey-casein blend from Quest Nutrition, since its great for baking.
- Non-Fat Greek Yogurt for extra protein
- Almond milk
- Cold Butter this has to be straight out of the fridge and cold
- Baking Powder
For the powdered sugar vibe
- Zero Calorie Powdered Sugar. I used the one from Lakanto (use my code HAYLSKITCHEN) since it’s made with monkfruit and is sugar free.

Tips for the perfect Air Fryer Fried Oreo Recipe
This air fryer fried Oreo recipe is really easy to make, but here’s some pointers to get it right!
- Make sure to use cold butter for this air fryer fried Oreo so that it creates those nice airy pockets in the middle when exposed to the high temperature.
- Make sure you have enough moisture from the milk and yogurt to prevent from being too dry.
- Lightly flour work surface to knead the dough or it will stick to the surface.
- Lightly flour hands when rolling dough so it doesn’t stick to your hands.
- Don’t over-mix the dough or add too much flour – this will give you dry and tough bites. It should take about 10 seconds.
- Preheat air fryer so the bites start cooking immediately and butter does not melt inside the dough.
For a Baked Fried Oreo Recipe
If you don’t have an air fryer, you can also make these protein powder fried Oroes in the oven. Place each coated Oreo on a parchment lined baking sheet and bake the at 395°F for about 7-8 minutes.
I haven’t tried this though so let me know if you do!
How to store Protein Powder Fried Oroes
These homemade protein powder fried Oreos keep really well at room temperature or in the fridge .
Store healthy fried Oreos on countertop 2 days or 5 days in the fridge in an airtight container.
