Ingredients for Healthy Kitchen Sink Protein Brownies
These kitchen sink chocolate protein brownies are made with a few healthy ingredients, topped with healthy stuff too, and have no eggs, no oil, no sugar either; The perfect indulgent chocolate protein powder dessert recipe!
- Chocolate Protein Powder needed for high protein brownies and also replaces most of the ‘sugar’. I used the Chocolate Milkshake protein powder from Quest Nutrition for this recipe (it’s a whey-caesin blend and bakes really well).
- Unsweetened Cocoa Powder, or Raw Cacao Powder (HAYLSKITCHEN.15OFF to save on Kiva Cacao)
- Gluten Free (All Purpose) Baking Flour – or a regular all purpose flour
- 1:1 Zero Calorie Sugar Substitute – I use Lakanto, to keep this recipe sugar free; (code HAYLSKITCHEN for a discount here)
- Non-fat Greek Yogurt contributes to the oil-free part of these high protein brownies since it adds the moisture, and also extra protein
- Almond Milk or regular milk
- Creamy Peanut Butter (no butter or oil to keep this recipe low fat)
- Baking Soda
And for the toppings:
- Hard Pretzel Sticks – tTry to use a lower sodium option or clean ingredient one for proper healthy kitchen sink brownies.
- Sugar-free Oreo Sandwich Cookies – I used the Keto friendly Chocolate Vanilla Sandwich Cookies from Catalina Crunch.
- Protein Bar – I used the milk chocolate almond protein bar from ProteinWorld (HAYLSKITCHEN gets you a discount here)
- Puffed Rice Cereal
How to make Everything but the Kitchen Sink Protein Powder Brownies?
This recipe for low fat and low calorie chocolate fudge protein brownies is extremely easy to make; just mix and bake!
Here’s what it takes:
- Preheat your oven to 350°F and line a baking pan (about 8”) with parchment paper.
- Whisk all the dry ingredients in bowl: chocolate protein powder, cocoa powder, gluten free baking flour, zero calorie sweetener and baking soda.
- Whisk the wet ingredients in a large bowl: Greek Yogurt and almond milk.
- Add the dry mix to the wet and gently fold to combine. Just be gentle and don’t over-mix the batter. The protein powder will make it too dense.
You should have a thick batter. (Taste batter and add stevia powder if you want it sweeter)
- Add in peanut butter and fold to combine.
- Transfer the no sugar protein brownie batter into pan, spread.
- Add toppings for the kitchen sink brownie: chopped oreos, pretzels, protein bar and cerel
- Bake for about 20 minutes.
Top should be completely set and dry, and a tester (toothpick or thin sharp knife) comes out mostly dry.
For extra fudgy brownies, let some moisture be there on the tester
Tips for Perfect Funky Protein Brownie Recipe
- Use room temperature milk and yogurt;
This is so the wet ingredients and dry ingredients can mix well.
- Use Creamy Peanut Butter also so that it mixes well into the batter
- Don’t over-mix the batter!
Make sure you gently fold the dry mix into the wet to combine them.
If you over-mix it, the protein powder will make the brownies tough, dense and gummy.
- Taste the batter and see if you need some extra sweetener. I’d recommend using stevia powder to maintain the consistency of the batter and have sugar free and healthy kitchen sink brownies.
- Don’t over-bake the brownies or they might get tough; Remove when the tester/knife comes out mostly dry.
Underbaking a little is okay.
- Chop the sandwich cookies and protein bar small so you can distribute the toppings evenly 🙂
