Whoever came up with this concept was genius, because this really is a very convenient and portable way to make French Toast. A rolled French Toast that you can pack for a day-trip? Yes. And when that same French Toast roll is made healthy with no sugar? Hell Yes!
Ingredients for Protein French Toast Rolls
This high protein French Toast rolls recipe uses simple and clean ingredients to give you a guillt-free indulgence. No sugar added or any other jargon.
- Sliced Bread – I recommend the low-calorie wheat sliced bread
- Vanilla Protein Powder – I used Quest Nutrition Vanilla Protein Powder for this recipe
- Egg
- Almond Milk – You can use any other reduced fat milk too
For the Protein Chocolate Spread and Filling
- Chocolate flavor Almond Butter; I used Cozy Cuddles Almond Butter from American Dream Nut Butter, but they have a lot of other chocolate-flavor ones too!

How to make Protein French Toast Roll-Ups?
These protein French Toast roll-ups might look intimidating, but the process to make them is very easy!
- Cut the edge of the bread, and roll it out thin (with a rolling pin or even glass bottle!)
- Make the filling: Mix all the ingredients () in a bowl.
- Fill & Roll:
Spread filling on sliced bread
Place strawberries along short edge of bread on one end
Roll up the bread rolls
- Make egg mix: Whisk all ingredients for mix in bowl ()
- Roll the rolls in the mix: Place roll in mixture and roll around to coat (let excess drip off)
- Cook:
Heat pan on medium low
Grease pan (with oil spray or butter)
Place roll on pan and fry each side 1-2 mins
Tips for French Toast Rolls with Protein Powder
Making these French Toast rolls with protein powder is super easy, but here’s some pointers so you can get it perfect!
- Use a rolling pin to roll the bread flat so they are easier to roll up
- Whisk the egg mixture to get rid of lumps or they’ll just stick on to the bread
- Grease the pan so the roll ups come off easily
- Use medium-low heat so the high protein French Toast roll-ups don’t burn – this can happen quite easily with the protein powder.
- Be gentle when you flip.
The bread should come off the pan very easily!

Protein French Toast Rolls – Healthy and Easy!
Ingredients
- 4 slices Wheat Bread, low calorie recommended
Filing:
- 1 Tbsp Chocolate Almond Butter, Recommendation below, 16g
- ½ scoop Chocolate Protein Powder, Whey-casein, 15g
- 1 Tbsp Cocoa Power, 5g
- 2 Tbsp Water, 30ml
- ½ cup Sliced Strawberries, ~80g
Egg mixture:
- 1 Tbsp Vanilla Protein Powder, Whey-casein 11g
- 3 Tbsp Almond Milk, or other, 45ml
- 1 Egg
- Olive Oil Spray for greasing
Instructions
- Trim edges of bread, and roll (using rolling pin) to thin and flatten.
Make filling:
- In a bowl combine chocolate almond butter, chocolate protein powder, cocoa powder and water.
- Spread about 2-3 tsp spread on bread (leave about ¼ inch from far short end).
- Line strawberries along one short end.Roll up tight.
Egg mixture:
- In a large shallow bowl or container whisk together milk, egg, vanilla protein powder.
- Roll bread roll in mixture to coat completely. Let excess drip off.
Cook:
- Heat a large non-stick skillet over medium-low and spray with cooking spray.
- Place rolls on pan and cook for 1-2 mins each side.(Repeat with each)
- Sprinkle on 0 calorie powdered sugar and serve.
